Our Guide To The Valley’s Best Live Music Venues
The beating heart of Brisbane’s music scene is about to beat a whole lot louder when Fortitude Music Hall opens July 26.
This venture between John ‘JC’ Collins (former member of Powderfinger and owner of Brisbane venue, The Triffid), Paul Piticco (co-founder of Secret Sounds) and Scott Hutchinson (Chairman of Hutchinson Builders and Live Nation) brings an entertainment venue to inner-city Brisbane on a scale not seen since the days of the iconic Festival Hall.
With a nod to its predecessor in its name, the Fortitude Music Hall has positioned itself as an essential destination for both local and international touring artists, with the capacity to host up to 3500 patrons.

COMING UP AT THE TIV
Under the canny management of co-founder Joc Curran from 1992 to 2016, The Zoo quickly rose to become one of Brisbane’s most loved and respected venues, from punters and artists alike.
The keys were handed over to new owner Pixie Weyand in 2016 and The Zoo saw significant upgrades with more than $100,000 invested into renovations and the installation of air-conditioning (does anyone else remember those sweltering sold out shows in the middle of a Queensland summer?).
Many can attest to The Zoo’s consistently impressive roster of international and local shows, but if you don’t believe the personal testimonies, you can always visit the Gigography on their website and see every show played there between 1994 and 2016. Long live The Zoo.
